FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Are treatments with EpilaseIce Platinum really virtually Painless?
EpiLaseICE Platinum, with its revolutionary cooling system, allows for virtually painless treatments. Temperatures are kept constant at -5c. Cooling the skin’s surface helps prevent overheating and discomfort caused by the laser. Most clients only experience a gentle warming sensation in the area being treated.
  • Is hair removal with EpilaseICE Platinum safe?
The latest professional gold standard in progressive hair removal has been proven to be a very safe method. Hair follicles are damaged by repetitive short energy pulses rather than a single pulse of high energy, which can damage the skin. The ICE cold sapphire tip minimises the risk of burns to the skin while maintaining heat within the dermis where the follicles are treated.
  • How many treatments do you usually need to see results?
Depending on hair type, skin colour and any hormonal concerns, results on average are seen following four sessions, with most clients requiring eight sessions in total. Many factors can alter this and will be discussed at consultation.
  • How often can you have treatments?
Unlike most laser hair removal systems, where treatments are spaced out 6-8 weeks apart, with EpiLaseICE Platinum, you can treat the area every 2-4 weeks, providing you with the results you desire in a shorter time frame.
  • Why do we treat sooner with EpilaseICE Platinum than most other laser technologies?
With any laser hair removal system, it is important that you book your sessions regularly to help treat the hairs during the Anagen phase of growth. Only around 20% of your hair is at this stage at any time, and it is only during this stage that hair follicles can be destroyed. When commencing a course of treatments, there will be more hair, so treating more aggressively at the start results in more hair being destroyed.
  • How long are treatment times?
Offering the fastest laser hair removal solution available, treatment sessions can be halved with EpiLaseICE Platinum due to its large spot size applicator. The duration of treatment can vary depending on skin colour, hair type and the area being treated. Treatment times can range from a few minutes to 1 hour for a full body.
  • Can EpilaseICE Platinum be used on all skin types?
Three different wavelengths of light can be adjusted to ensure the skin surrounding the hair follicle doesn't absorb the laser light protecting your skin from burns; therefore, EpilaseICE Platinum can be used to treat all skin types. A patch test and consultation are required before treatment.
  • Is EpilaseICE Platinum suitable to use on tanned skin?
EpiLaseICE Platinum is safe and effective for tanned skin thanks to its unique setting; in the same way, it can treat darker skin tones. Exposure to sunlight can cause your skin to become more sensitive to the light energy used in the removal process. Preparation is the key to excellent results. You should avoid all forms of hair removal apart from shaving before treatment. Waxing, threading, or hair removal creams can cause problems that react with the laser. These should be avoided for a period of 6 weeks before treatment. Around 12 hours before treatment, you should shave the target area to ensure that the laser targets the hair’s follicles and not heating the hair on the skin, which can cause discomfort. A consultation and patch test are required before treatment.
